Long story short a pony that was on loan and is 23 years old developed a slight swelling on the inside of her leg along the top of the cannon bone. She was never lame on it but vet called and said that she thought it was ligament damage but as horse was old didn't think it needed MRI scan etc as it wasn't lame.
2 weeks box rest then 2 months restricted turnout.
Pony now just being bought into a fitness regime of walking out etc and still no lameness but after a walk last night there seemed to be a slight swelling/fluid. When she got back to her field she happily trotted off to her friends and this morning it has gone again!
Is this what happens with ligaments and could she carry on being bought back into light work or should we be doing something else?
Any help appreciated.
