When I tack my mare up, her back/shoulders kind of twitches when I put her saddle on. Like when they have got a fly and the skin moves about...anyone know why it could be? I thought maybe because her numnah was very hairy as shes moulting but changed to a different one and still happens?

Does she twitch when you put any pressure on this part of her back? When my horse had a twisted pelvis the first sign I had of his sore back was twitching in the area. I hope this is not the case ,but worth checking that she is not sore in this place.

get a back person out just to check her spine over...my big boy does this becuase he is cold backed, my little boy twiches like mad becuase he us sensitive (and some idiot rode him in a western saddle with a nail in it!!) and has to eat lots of garlic to feel better

I think Il get someone out to look at it just in case. I think its only started the past few weeks..well I only noticed it then. She was swishing her tail around a lot when we hacked out last time..people say thats a sign of pain dont they??

No not when I put pressure on, ie grooming etc just when I put her numnah on then saddle. Sometimes when I put her rugs on her skin twitches kind of on her shoulders and belly too

i would get the back person out, sound like the same thing a horse at the yard was doing and his back was out.
