I am a bit stumped about this.
Two horses recently put into new paddock, grass fairly lush for this time of year.
No weeds ect present. horses out 24/7, not being ridden, in good health.
two days later, first horse has swollen back legs. No signs of injury, no lameness, no heat, all other signs fine, eating well, feaces dark green but not runny or cowpat consistency. Next day horse two with hind legs also swollen. Horse one now has swollen front legs also.
no signs of excessive hoolying around paddock.
any ideas

are you dawn that used to do stuff with TVRC btw??!

Legs...I'd imagine if no other symptoms, its down to change in diet or allegery, not much else it can be really.....hope they are ok tho.

Has anything else changed in their diet recently?

Hi
Yes, Regarding the TVRC. Who are you then? sorry cannot recognise you from the post.
In regards to the rich grass, that is what I was thinking but have never seen a reaction so severe before, especially with these two horses.
They are already getting some hay morning and eve, mainly to help flush the hind gut and give them a rest from the grass. I have taken them out the feild for a while to give them a chance for the legs to go down. But they will have to go back in as some point. may have to muzzle them.
Thanks guys, always best to ask, you never know if youve missed something when racking your brains for an answer.
best regards
Dawn
