Hi, this is a follow to my last topic called Can You Help? (if you havent read this topic it will be at the bottom of this post) about the atuall work.

So after taking advice for the amazing CatStew i looked up about "Young People and employment" on this website - http://www.adviceguide.org.uk/index/...employment.htm. It says all the basic infomation but not what specific work under 14's can do. I think what i want to do should be legal from the descriptions it gives but i'm not postive. So once again i'm looking for your help!!

Please post, any infomation i would be extermly gratefull for. i just want to make sure that what i want to do is atually legal. Also, regarding the post at the bottom, do you think the prices i posted are OK or to expensive or to cheap?

Thanks again.

P.S. Can You Help?:
I was just wondering if anyone knows the minuimum age, for someone i.e. ME!, to go to other yards to groom/wash/clean/pamper etc someones horse/s???

I have just devolped an amazing technequie and i am very egar to use to! My mum said she would be more than happy of rme to do this if that helps. My dream is to do this, sort of. But i'm almost 12 and i can't even get a small job yet.

I hope someone can tell me. My mum and dad said they will drive when where i need to go when i can get this job.
At this point in time i am grooming quite a lot of the horses at my yard for free, is that illegal?
Also if i can could i groom peoples horses for free at a younger age than paying??
Can someone maybe tell me what i should include in my ad when i post it?

I was thinking maybe £5 for 14.2hh and under i.e. ponies and £8.50ish for 14.2hh +. Of course giants like 18hh i might need a stool (i'm 5ft 3", so not bad)!!!

I have not read your previous post but would think that whether it is legal or not to pay you there will not be many people that would let an 11 year old, that they do not know, come to a yard and groom their horses. I certainly would be very worried about it as insurance could be a problem.
£5 or £8.50 seems a lot to get for grooming, again not many people would pay that, many livery yards earn less than that for doing mucking out and daily care.
I would enjoy grooming the ones in your yard, that should be fine as you are there anyway and maybe the owners will give you a small gift of money from time to time, then when you are older you could try and get some proper work.

As above, insurance is a huge issue!

Also, people that do not know you may not be willing to let you near their horses.

Horsey jobs tend to be massively over subscribed so you may be best working as a saturday girl at a riding stables. An unpaid posistion but at least you will get lots of experience and a reference that you can use.

haven't read your previous post, but as others are saying people may not be willing to trust you with there horses when they do not know you, and may be put off by your age.
As TritTrot has said, the saturday job at a riding stables seems a good idea. When i was around 13/14 i helped out at a local riding stables every saturday, and this was where i met my best friend! I had so much fun there, grooming, tacking up, leading in lessons, mucking out, and learn't so much that i was more than happy to be there every weekend for no pay at all.
So i'd sugest this, great place to meet new people your age too, and especially in the holidays im sure you'd be a great help to the stables :)
