Hi guys,

My little NF pony has been lame on his fore right for a week now. He has had a week of rest, bute, noradine and cold hosing as he has heat in his knee.
He has a small bony lump on the outside if his cannon bone and i have him booked for x-rays on weds, just wondering if anyone has any idea what this could be?
Really worried about him, i did have him for sale but cant sell him now (secretly v.pleased :D ) he is such a lovely boy and only young (5) im hoping its not too serious.
Bit of a bum as i just started uni, car broke, broken pony and he is not insured (was about to when he went lame, dammit!)

anyway, sorry for ramble - very tired, anyone got any ideas?

Is there any swelling? Has he been kicked how lame is he is?

My NF had a swelling and small lump in similar place on his back leg which had similar treatment and did not respond to antibiotics (it won't if it is not an infection) then turned out to be a broken splint bone. He was only 1/10 lame.

I hope for your sake it is not a broken splint bone as while the prognosis is normally good the treatment is expensive if you are not insured due to having to wear big bandage (soft cast) and it needing to be be changed every 10 days combined with box rest. First thing vet on diagnosis was is he insured as the bandaging is very expensive, thankfully he was.
