My horse has been lame since March now. He was kicked in his chest then two weeks later in his right hind fetlock. I got physio out and after treatment he was more lame so she advised vet.
Vet came out nerve blocked to foot and advised box rest for 10 days and bute.
Back out no better but much improved in boots on trot up. Next visit we x rayed the right fore hoof and the x rays were clean.
She advised to put shoes back on but I went against vet, throughout his time lame he has had a pulse in the foot.
Fast forward to this week we have had an MRI done and this has also came back clean with the exception of some old blood in the heel bulb which indicates old bruising; could be from years ago apparently.
So now I am stumped and not sure vet has any idea of what it is either. The strange thing is he is 1/10th lame on the straight and hard but in the school loose and on circle is about 2/3 10ths lame which just doesn't make sense.
To me in the school it looks like it's come from shoulder/ chest which I thought initially as he had been kicked there and when I rode him he just didn't feel like he was stretching out completely and therefore felt slightly short.
I have asked for physio on insurance which vet is happy for me to do. Vet wants to come and and re block and has suggested shoes again!!! But also a full body scan/ scintography.
Anyone have any ideas or had similar experience?
