Just wondering if anyone could give me any info on these meets. I am having a bit of a visiting phase for the first bit of the season for a bit of a change and had a lovely day with the Southern Shires Bloodhounds today. Next weekend I have a choice of the Berks and Bucks opening meet at Brockhurst School which is between Bucklebury and Hermitage. Or there is the Southern Shires Bloodhounds opening meet all of 4 miles down the road from the B&B at Chapel Row. Or in totally the opposite direction there is the Kent and Surrey Bloodhounds at Marsh Green near Edenbridge in Kent. They are all about 40-45miles away, just over an hour for all of them as mostly motorways.

Has anyone done any of these meets? Would like good ground, a few nice jumps, maybe the odd hedge but nothing too humongous and terrifying and preferably as few ditches as possible as my horse is convinced monsters live in the bottom and although he always jumps them he does like to balloon over them.

Any help greatly appreciated - I am terrible at making decisions!

having met you and your lovely chesnut when you visited us last season, i would go B&B at Brockhurst. nice lines and cant think of any diitches apart from an open one near the pigs (if they even go that way...) and thats very easy to avoid :)

Thanks DDD - am hoping to come and visit you again this season if you can recommend any good meets other than Stratfield Saye (which was amazing and I really hope I can come to that one again!)

I know some hunts do publicise their meets, but in light LACS claim that most of their meet information they pass on to hunt sab associations is found directly through hunters I don't think it is wise to post on a hunting forum where or when meets are.

The SSB opening meet at Chapel Row will be fab. Lots of rails of various sizes, some xc fences, a few hedges and lots of good galloping ground. Finished off with a wonderful hunt tea. There may be a couple of small ditches, but nothing you can't step over and lots of help to get over them if there are any problems. (PS nice to meet you yesterday and your lovely chestnut!)

RuntoEarth -if the SABS want to come along and complain at a pack of bloodhounds chasing a man they are more than welcome to!

these meets are all publicised on the hunt websites. They're also all either drag or bloodhound packs. I think the sabs have got better things to do than worry about us!

I would go to either the B & B or the Southern Shires - both lovely friendly packs well run by good honest people who are happy to publicise their meets (nothing to hide). At the B & B the ex hunt sec to the kiblewick is now sec to them there, she is very friendly - Enjoy :)
