Following on from my a previous thread, I wondered if anyone had an ID x Arab, whether they were a good cross, and what height they reached. Thank you!
My friend has one and he is lovely, really athletic. She mainly does pleasure rides and long hacks. He has jumped with success and he has been placed in riding horse locally. He is quite intelligent and a quick learner, he is a little bit ponylike in attitude. I think he measures at 16.2 but I think he feels bigger, he is flat backed. Sheaalways laughs as you know when he is going to be silly as his tail goes straight up and that is the main clue to the arab! That and he has a very pretty face. Sorry but I don't have pictures.
I have a homebred chestnut mare, who's sire was an anglo arab, with a high percentage of arab, the mare is 40% arab. The dam was 3/4 ID, the rest being cob,
She is about 16hh, and has been the best all round horse I have ever had. She has done all disciplines, affiliated, and is now teaching my teenage daughter the ropes.
She has taken after her arab side by having a huge shoulder and no wither, wish I could post a picture as she is gorgeous
I know a couple of breeders that have been doing a straight ID Arab cross...
I have one that's not a straight cross, he's roughly 25% Arab 25% ID and the rest is TB. He's a nice horse, I don't go for Arabs at all but I still like him. He's about 16h, and he's a bony lad. He sometimes smacks me on the back with his tail when he's giving it some trot, as he waves it in the air.
Horseaddict I can't get your link to work for some reason, gutted! Thanks all for your stories, they all seem to have some size about them even with the arab influence! Could be a cross worth pursuing anyway...
