What would you consider high mileage (as in don't touch it!) on a Landrover disco?
As in a 1995 300 Tdi...2.5L diesel....133K

Now anything over the 100K on the clock would normally make me go , however a few ads with the 130/140k mark state this as low mileage?? Or are they just talking about low for the year?

Have very limited budget so I know I'm not going to get a low/med mileage 4x4 but many seem to think this kind of mileage on a disco is not bad and certainly shouldn't put people off?

Any help/opinions gratefully received!

We've sold quite a few Discos of this age and they do seem to go for ever, but on the basis that somebody has looked after them!! Much the same as anything else, there are good and bad. Main faults include rot on the rear wheel arches and the back floor. I would assume at that age unless extremely rare, then this should have been done, but do check. Sunroofs leak, the power steering pumps go and if it has a high spec then the electrics including sunroof motors are common. Shocks wear and are about £40 each, the door handles give up and are about £8 on ebay.

we've sold several this year and got another on the forecourt with 149k. We do find the 300tdi much more popular than the 200 for people who want to use it as an everyday car, by the sound of it a td5 is out of your reach. The v8's do about 17-18mpg so aren't popular but usually cheaper.

If I can help more, then let me know. I have a fantastic spare part place!!

Most 4x4s do rake a lot of mileage.
My last Disco i bought had 136k on the clock & it was a 1994 300TDi.
I sold it with 167k, the person who bought it asked whether it was genuine mileage as he said the mileage seemed very low.
When i showed him the service history book it was only then he believed me.
An AA friend told me these vehicles if the bodywork is good can go on into the 200-300k mileage with no problems as long as they are well maintained.
Hope that helps.

Thats very helpful thank you!

Would you rate these vehicles over say a shogun, trooper or terrano for example?

iconique - what a shame your so far from me!! or I would have been paying you a visit!

Quite happy to deliver! :-D

I like my landies, they tow, they offer 7 seats option, they go generally for ever and you can in theory fix with a spanner a hammer and a screwdriver (why the 2& 300tdi's are more popular than the td5!)

I'm not a fan of the pajero's or landcruisers, although they have a reputation of going on for ever and used in the desert - but we are in the mudbath of the world! I can't remember the towing capacity of the terrano and don't get many in, there are lots of paj and troopers on ebay but after a few bad experiences I still revert back to the landy. I suppose it's what you know and what you can get parts for! (I go by what hurts my pocket or burns my warranty!)
