Never thought I'd hear myself saying this but I've have a TB... in show condition ;)

YO kindly dumped a one of the large square bales of hay in my field seen as we've not seen any grass for god knows how long.

Now don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining as it beats me skating across the yard with barrow fulls of hay every morning in zub zero temps but now my little piggy wiggy of a TB is happily munching through as much hay as she can ram down her little neck.

Now this wouldn’t be so much of a problem if I could actually exercise her, but with a frozen snow compacted arena and absolutely no chance of getting on any roads without breaking legs on the 3 inches of pure ice on the back roads I’m finding myself having to put a TB on a diet…in December….in all this snow!

It’s madness!

Anyone else?

Mine is also on a diet - i feel mean in the weather!
but her bum has turned into something along the lines of an obese cob ;o
and last winter i was fighting to get weight on her, i never thought I'd see the day where she needs to loose weight!

Millie has always been a fantastically good doer.

She is on hay and Alfa A and is blooming- struggle to find her ribs!

She defies all tb stereotypes- good doer, great feet, huge thick mane and tail and is in a wide fitting saddle.
if she wasn't DNA tested I would think she was a New Forest cross! :)

Like this one?

Yep we have a thick mane as well, which she hates having pulled which makes it even better...not  and she's a medium to wide.

If it wasn't for a spindly little fine legs and little head, I'd swear she was a cob :D

I've always found that most TB's kept on fibre diets and especially if they live out tend to be very good doers, i've had a few mostly off the track and they all do a pretty good wooly mammoth impression too!
I have a 2yo TB and she's very roly poly but I know that she'll drop most of it after xmas when the weather gets miserable.

Something like that yes lol.

Next time it snows, I'll try and match that photo!...minus the *****ties in the background through :D

Not *****elands - welsh sec B's (believe it or not lol)

The TB is an 18 yo mare who is 3 months pregnant and doing really well :). She is my friend's home bred mare and is being retired when the foal is all grown up and broken :) She's in foal to a lovely coloured 3/4 TB :)

Yes both mine are on high fibre diets only, she was having half a scoop of endurance mix when she was in work but I cut that out 3 weeks ago.

Yeah I realised after I had another look, god I should know the difference between a Shetland and a Welsh pony by now, must be age and my eye sight playing tricks on me :o

Good luck with your foal when he or she arrives. :)
