It's soooo slow and I haven't a clue why they are dragging it out over 5 nights? What do you think?

Sorry, I disagree - this is a story that needs to be "dragged-out". It is a drama afterall - so condense it to an hour would miss the point completely.

I think it's an excellent drama.

I agree but I've watched it every night thinking it must improve?? No doubt I'll watch tomorrow and then wish I hadn't wasted 5 hours of my life this week. I need a drink, care to join me?

Think I need a drink to wake me up.
I like the way that nothing happens until 3 mins to 10 every time!
I agree it is a drama but what has happened so far?

Hope there is a twist at the end like it was really Rev Green in the library with the candlestick!!

I totally disagree. The development of the characters has been fabulous, and I've really liked the fact that it's on every night and you don't have to wait a week for the next bit.

It's filled the space that Waking the Dead left in my life. I don't watch much telly at all - Waking the Dead on Sunday and Monday was about it TBH. I've loved Criminal Justice, and have been moved to tears by quite a lot of it.....Superb acting by Maxine Peake and tonight in particular by the girl who plays Ella.

*ahem* Hardly a latest news post!

I like it. I can see that some think it's dragged out, but I prefer the attention to detail and build up of characters.

You beat me to it on both counts. Thought Wednesday's episode was slightly slow but overall really excellent. Love all the details and nuances - far superior to most TV fare.

I think it's brilliant. Have been glued to every second of every episode. We have people for supper tonight - love them lots but argh! (oh well, can watch on iPlayer)

Sure it's been mentioned before for various reasons although I hadn't seen post. Anyway, after watching it all week I'll certainly watch the last 10 mins tonight whilst enjoying a G & T

I have enjoyed it a lot and think the time taken to portray the characters and develop the storyline has been to good effect. A condensed one or two hour drama would have missed all of that out. Sometimes I believe it is the 'little' things in a film or drama that make a piece of work stand out or seem more authentic.

Wonder what the conclusion will be?

Very sad I thought Tiffany to be honest. Not what I was expecting at all given the circumstances.

I think it's good to highlight abuse and I know there are lots of women who suffer in silence because they are too afraid to ask for help. Having said that, the story could have told over 2 nights rather than 5 IMO

I totally agree with you about the highlighting of abuse to women in the home. What I meant was I was sad about the ending. I didn't agree with the sentence under the circumstances and believe the children should have been with their mother. As for the 5 vs 2 nights. Can't say I agree on this one though because as with all court cases they take time, and this was indicated by the length of time dedicated to the storyline as it was not a black and white murder case. I thought the length of this drama mini series was about right. The characters were given time to develop. Viewers could see some people for who they really were. For instance in the case of the police wife and husband scenario, the Sexton's. It was very obvious that 'he' was a control freak both in and out of work. His wife was clearly not happy about it and perhaps she could see a bit of Juliet's character/life in her own. Identification at some level. Which is maybe why she chose not to lie in court for the sake of her husband. She would have known what had previously been said by both him and a colleague in court with regard to his whereabouts on the morning that he tricked Juliet's character into giving a second interview so that she could see her daughter, which he later revoked and denied.
I found it very interesting to watch as the characters developed and Juliet and her daughter Ella finally opened up their lives ( or part of) during the trial.
Although I am fully aware that this was 'only' a drama and not actual life I still believe it engaged viewers at an emotional level. I was certainly drawn in and have been all week.
The acting was very good, especially that of Maxine Peake who played Juliet.

Yes, but this sort of topic (tv shows) is to be discussed in soapbox, not "latest news", which is, as the name suggests, dedicated to (real) news topics.

In what respect?

I thought it a pretty reasonably report of how the criminal justice system can work in cases like this. It was a relatively good way of making people more aware of the fact that cases aren't always so black and white.

I thought the verdict was correct (decided that during Thursday's episode) but the sentence was too harsh. I wonder what the minimum term is for manslaughter? Annoyed with myself for not guessing the truth sooner! I'd love to know how the relationship between the married police officers would progress, and whether the doctor's marriage survives. Puzzled as to the relevance of the kindertransport experience of the clerk's father - perhaps just a red herring.
