As title says!

Anyone else out there with goats?

I just want to find someone else who understand my obsession with these lovely, affectionate, loyal animals. I have two British saanens, milk one (9 pints a day!).

I spent an hour this evening in their stable sat snuggling with them. It was so relaxing.

Sadly the horse doesn't consider them company!

Anyone else got the goat bug?

I would love to own goats again but they are not the most practical 'pets' when you don't have your own land! One day....

This is my old boy, as you can see he was broken to drive :D Absolutely love anglo nubians and would love to have a herd sometime.

i have 1 goat i did have 2 but 1 was killed by a dog a couple of years ago so i just have Lucy who thinks she is a human and i love her to bits even though she smells lol if she escapes from her field she will just mooch about my garden occasionally head butting the front door to see if i am awake (i work nights)she will chase my dog when i go in her field each morning she has so much character she is a pygmy goat i would like to get another to keep her company but not sure how she would react and dont want to upset her as she is getting on now in years she is freindly with a pony in the field next door but i am sure she would like a goat freind

Oh a driving goat :D I am wanting to train my 7 month old kid to drive. Did you train your old boy?

Yes, they aren't very practical.

Yes, my boss had driving ponies and was a harness maker, and my old YO made and restored carriages so made that one to fit. He was dead easy to train as he was so human orientated; had him from about 2 or 3 days old to hand rear so he was more like a dog than a goat :D Started the driving training at about 6 months old, pulling a tyre around the yard :)

Fab! My kid was hand raised and follows me around like a dog! I think she thinks she is a dog, she even plays with the JRT. I can't wait to start her in harness work. I was going to start with a light plastic child's sledge.

Did anyone comment on you being slightly insane?

Ha, Ha! amazing. I thought my over friendly game hen who sits on my arm when ever I go into their run was funny!

I was hoping to be able to drive the goat and deliver the goats milk around the lanes (all fully DEFRA licenced etc ) :D

We have 2 goats and 2 sheep called heidi, bianca, sean and qwendoline and we had 2 male goats that had to be pts last year, one died of a broken heart:( called wallace and gromit!!

Three! dear little pygmies..one's 11, then mum and baby 3 & 1yrs..very addictive...not milked sadly, I did try with my nanny as her baby was very forward...she was highly unimpressed tho so not to be! I have 8 sheep too who the eldest pygmy frequently helps me to round up & bring in...how she knows is beyond me, but she's right every time...even if I want to put them somewhere else she just seems to know & works with me!...:-)

Bloomin travellers dogs killed 3 last month leaving me short of breeding lines (So if anyone in Ireland can tell me of any livestock transporters that bring stock in to the UK I'd be grateful as all we seem to have over here are big long camels, pygmys or boar goats) There's a lovely Doe on Done Deals just like one of my first driving girls Deidre

If anyone sees this little victorian goat cart it was stolen from me about 10 yrs ago

Well it was the travellers dogs that killed my goat in england so no point coming here

We do not have any goats now, but my mum had up to 50 at once, mostly angora goats (mohair). But have owned the odd saanen, british alpine, toggenburg and anglo nubian.

My mum learnt to spin, and would love to take this up again.

We would love to have goats again, one day. You do need good fencing.

The horses did not use to mind them, and we had a donkey a long time ago, that every time a goat gave birth she would take the kid off the mum, so in the end we put her in foal and she stop bothering the goats.
