Hi,
Not been on for ages, but would really like to hear about others experiences with the title.

My pony, had a puncture wound, developed an abcess, has been drained treated but to no avail it just wasn't healing. The vet suggested poss broken rib, or bone fragments could be the reason. I took her to the horse hospital yest for a scan and xray. One of her ribs is broken in 2 places and there are some bone fragments that need to come. She is having her op today and the whole rib is coming out. The vets doing the op have said she will still be able to be ridden and its a fairly routine thing. The only tricky bit is that the fragments are close to the lung. I'm really gutted. I phoned the vet soon as it happened, did everything I was told to do and she's been so brave it must be really painful. :(:(:(:(

My horse's condition was nothing like yours, but he had a rib removed. he had severe kidney stones and the only way to remove the kidney was to take out the last rib to access it. that was about 10 years ago and if the idiot hadn't developed arthritis and ruptured a tendon, he'd be totally fine. I hope your mare's op went well and her recovery is speedy

Hi, thanks.

Sorry to hear about your ned developing further problems. The op went well, she is now ready to come home. Unfortunatley the weather was awful today and I didn't find out she could come home till about 10. I need to be on the road by 8 to get back for a decent time. So Going to collect first thing monday morning and I can't wait to see her. :)
