Feel sad about feeling blue I've been poorly for a while and little things are getting too much. Horses are so sweet but hard work at the minute and not bothered to ride even if I could because of the weather feel so miserable and down nearly on the verge of I got offered the brilliant homes I would sell hope its just a glitch feeling poorly and really tired and probably grumpy ! - know lots are having it hard at the moment )

Only a couple of months until the spring grass starts coming through, and think about all those amazing rides on a warm summers day, especially ones via the pub! Chin up winter doesn't last forever... Thats what I keep telling myself! x x

You are definitely not the only one, it's hard work in this weather, carting water and hay about, mine are also costing me a fortune as they are so bored they are breaking everything - buckets, fencing, electric fencing, rugs, stables, each other. You name it it's been broken :) I can't remember ever feeling so exasperated!

But I know that once everything is thawed there is nothing better than a lovely long peaceful hack or the exhillaration of a good gallop. It's worth hanging on to them!

Yes and I feel so guilty! When up at the yard I'm spending about 5 minutes with the horse which is when I turn him out or bring him. I then spend 10 minutes mucking out then go home and have a hot chocolate!

I've promised to spend some time pampering him today though, poor thing thinks hes been abandoned or something :p

Yep. I am feeling VERY tearful about all the blinkin' hard work at the mo.... poo-picking weldedtotheground poo for 4, getting desperately short of haylage because although my man has plenty, he can't deliver because of the snow and I can't fit it in the back of my car, water pipes frozen so OH lugging billy-cans every night after he finishes work for me in the dark. Minus 15 Crimbo day, minus 14 yesterday... *sigh* Plus I have bilateral tennis elbows and carpal tunnel has also just developed in my right hand AND I have a dodgy right shoulder from lugging too-heavy haynets LAST winter. And don't even get me started on how wet, soggy and muddy everything will be when this snow eventually thaws. OR the fact that fuel seems to have gone up 8 per litre in the last week AND we haven't even had the VAT rise yet.

I'm resenting my 3 and my tenant pony, even though it's not their fault but I'm grumpy and tearful and not coping at all well. :( If I can rationalise, pones are all living out and my poor-doer TB is positively thriving (normally he comes in at night in the winter) - they are well-covered, happy and coping far better than I am which is small consolation.

So no... it's not just you. I'm ready to throw the towel in.....

Oh you are definitely not on your own. I'm lucky, in a way, that Jazz in on full livery but I'm losing the motivation to see him because I can't ride due to the weather, so I'm losing enthusiasm full stop.

As others have said - winter doesn't last forever. It will soon be nice again :)

MIL212, with you there my lot have borken everything too including the lekky fencing & because its so frozen i cant get the post & rail done so there is no boundry fence, que a nice pair of coppers this morning stood with my mare when i got there today (they seemed more confident with the bolshy mare than the sobbing female).

aoibhin - eeek, coppers, at least I know I am not the only one suffering! I have to separate my 4 year olds otherwise they wreck the rugs, so I've had to turn one out in the neighbours field as I too can't get the fencing stakes in the ground! (and the small issue of the electric not bothering them in their heavyweight rugs!)

I am fed up, not able to ride and I'm off work, I know the bloody snow will melt when I get back to work when I can't ride cos it's too dark :( Horse is totally unfit now and I can see his back end stiffening up when he has a canter in the field :( back to square one I expect come spring... I am also fed up cos I bought a new car in the summer and it is rubbish in the snow, and now I feel like trading it in for a Defender or L200! I am sick of the hassle of not being able to go anywhere and going stir crazy cos I can't ride!!!

Mine lost shoe last w/end in Nov but farrier brillant and came out before I even had chance to call him - saw my facebook moan. Managed to ride following w/end and then it snowned & snowed and roads like ice rinks. Got to go into hospital start of Jan for stomach op so no riding for at least a month - can't even lift anything! Doubt I'll get to ride much before end Feb. Keep telling myself at least its staying lighter in the evenings now.

Maybe you should all have a group hug and talk about the positive sides of owning and being around your horses rather than being all negative :)

And just think about that soft bit of skin around their nostrils that feels like velvet and is just perfect for kissing!

Huggy huggy hug hugs :)
