So I went to change the ownership details on my new lads passport today.

The passport looks like a child put it together but never mind.

The Passport has been issued by Oakdale N.I LTD ad is stamped inside as Oakdale Meats (NI) Ltd

I can not find any way of changing the ownership details for the passport. no website, contact details for the issuing agency.

Any one got any ideas?
Any one had experience of changing ownership for an Oakdale Meats Passport??????

Can I just apply for a new passport from a different agency? TBH I don't like a meat company being his passport issuing agency and in particular not one that used to operate a large equine slaughter house in N.I. it looks like a heap of crap too!

many thanks in advance,

Lou :)

I would just get a new passport it's highly unlikely anyone will follow up from there! Not likely to be microchipped either. They were a proper legit passport agency but not anymore.

They were active and permitted to issue passports on the DEFRA list dated April 2016 - I can't find anything to suggest they have had that license revoked so I would conclude they are a legit passport agency I'm afraid. Although I do see from NI Companies House that business changed hands in May so it is possible if you drop them an email that they may no longer issue passports.

Technically it is an offense to apply for a new passport if the original PIO is still trading. But in practice you could probably apply for a replacement passport saying yours has been lost. But if the horse is microchipped (and if the databases work correctly which they may well not...) then the microchip number will lead the PIO you apply to straight back to Oakdale meats.

If your horse isn't micro chipped I would be strongly tempted to simply apply for a new passport. Buying a horse without a passport isn't an offense - only selling without one.

Me!! New horse has one. I think a five-year-old could do a much better job of producing a decent, legitimate-looking passport. I wish I could apply for a new one from a different PIO, as there is hardly any space on this one for vaccination records etc.

Despite the horse changing hands a few times, the info hasn't been updated since the thing was first issued.

Good point re. the microchip, I'll get her checked at her next jab.

We had one. They do them pretty cheaply and are relatively common on cheap cobs brought over here. Ours went in the bin and we got a new one, but the horse wasnt microchipped so it was easily done.
