Any one remember 'Horse Sense' magazine?

Just wondering if anyone remembered this magazine,came out donkeys years ago. I thought it was quite good, but I was fairly young at the time.

I know it had different sections on breeds, advanced and basic riding etc

Really random post I know!
 
Yes I do, it was advertised on tv, I had a few of the early issues in the binder but then they stopped having it in newsagents and my parents wouldn't subscribe......

It was quite good, a bit more serious and grown up than pony or horse and pony but aimed at children/teenagers. In fact I've probably still got them!
 
Hey yeah I still have quite afew and was given about 5 of the binders full! I haven't realy looked at them in years, ill have to dig them out at the weekend! I'm abit of a horder!
 
Ha ha! Yes, I had these as a kid. I thought they were brilliant. I used to order a copy from the local paper shop. And the binder with it's faux leather spine!!

Good magazine though!
 
Yes I rememebred them, Used to get them every week, or however often they came out, I think I carbooted them.. :-(

I used a couple of photos from them to do my first horse paintings.. blimey so long ago.. 20+ years?.
 
My old riding instructor gave me all of her collection of Horse Sense. They are kept in a huge box under my bed and when something comes up I flick through them to find what illness or problem my horse has and what to do! I also use it to help me with my riding! And for a 17yr old to say that - it must be good. It reminds of the modern 'Pony Mag'
 
God how weird , someone ( old bloke who comes into my gallery from time to time ) gave me a binder full of those mags not long ago , he knew I was into horses and someone gave them to him , I was going to dump them but maybe I'll give them to another mate to car boot! Wish I still had my jinny at Finmory books though!!
 
Yes. Got loads in my cupboard. I used to read in in preparation for the day I had my own pony.

I'm still waiting.....I kept them as I think there's some useful advise in there.
 
I have a full set of horse sense of a year in a red and gold binder...

I liked the feature on the famous horse on the back in each issue. I think I actually still have them in the loft!
 
Awh what a blast from the past - I loved the mag. I particularly remember the advice on planning morning and evening yard routines and forcing myself to get up at 6am to feed etc before school, classic!
 
I loved this magazine I cut loads out when i was training towards my stages exams loads of useful articules on digestive systems, bones, types of grasses all sorts I found it really helpful. But scaring myself now it was probably 15 years ago!
 
I was a subscriber and a pony mad but not a pony owning 8 year old. I used to get so excited awaiting every issue in the post. I recently cleared out the spare bedroom as I have had another baby and found them. I especially liked looking back at old style jute turnout rugs and ancient looking tack!

Too right, Noah had copies on board for entertainment! I used to have Horse and Pony mag in its old format when it was a serious magazine for adults! Eddie Straiton used to write the vet page. But then it changed its market to attract kids and became lots of glossy pictures and fluff, so I called it a day.
 
My daughter collected them as a young girl. She's 32 now. I think we have the whole set including the binders. Just dug them out the loft for my granddaughter!

now another burning question anyone remember "THE HORSE" magazine?? first copy came out 1975 and was a weekly magazine and had 48 issues. I have every one .

this was wayyyyy before "horse sense"

I have all 48 number 1 on the right number 48 on the left. Sadly I never got the binders which were meant for them. :(
