Anyone else have a native that thinks they are precious, and just stands by fence giving intense “bring me in” looks at the slightest trickle of rain. They are not brought in but will stand there hopeful for hours, eyeballing anyone who passes pleadingly. Won’t eat the grass if it’s damp, whilst the thoroughbreds happily graze.

Awwhh bless!

We are on a Track system with our little herd of three. Not easy at the moment but the bloomin' things have just gotta go out. We hardened our hearts last weekend and put the Track back up. Included as part of the track is their sheltered area which is hard standing, and open-fronted buildings.

It tiddled down here in Devon last night. Where were they? Up in the yard sheltered from all of it. The pile of poo this morning to clear up is evidence of exactly where they were.

Cob (mine) had settled into the covered area, no rug, but warm & toasty (and dry!) this morning.

Woosies the lot of 'em.

They don’t realise they are meant to be hardy 🙈 we are trying a track around the field this spring /summer but at the moment the bottom of the field is too wet. The fiend is half sand , half clay and the clay half remains waterlogged and takes ages to dry out.

4 year old, unclipped, heavy horse who has an excellent coat which is both waterproof and warm and still very fluffy.

He becomes an utter sulky PITA if left out in the rain and not wearing a rug. His breeder said he was like this as a foal too.

He loves splashing in a puddle and having a good wallow in mud, but rain, no thank you!!!!

My two are complete opposites. My biggest gets dramatic when it gets cloudy - rain is awful, mud is unbearable, 15 degrees is too cold to be outside and 20 degrees is too hot...I've just put him in his stable and got glared at.

Little Welsh loves rain, gales, snow, ice and -4 is perfect weather.

Millie hates the rain when she’s in the field, but loves hacking out in it, which I find bizarre. In the field she’ll turn her bum to it and stand looming miserable but out hacking she marches into it without a care. Previous horses have pretty much all done that head tuck, turn the bum to the rain while riding so it’s a bit of a novelty to have one who seems unconcerned by it.

I left my (very fluffy) TB naked yesterday morning as it was barely drizzling and very mild. This is what greeted me when I went to do afternoon feed/checks:

Not impressed! She had clearly been in there a while as she was bone dry including her legs, and covered in bedding so she’d clearly had a good roll or lie down. Plus loads of poo, it was basically a full muck out. I rugged her apologetically; she was still in there as I was leaving 😂
