Any 'pedigree/TB' experts? Who was 'Sena Julia'?

I've recently bought a 4yr old mare, advertised as Connemara cross. I've now had a good look in her passport, and her sire is Connemara, he comes up in 'All Breeds Pedigree' site just fine.
Her dam however is shown as 'Megan' who is by Baron Blakeney (TB racer who was one of Martin Pipe's first winners and put him on the map by winning the Triumph Hurdle at Cheltenham as a rank outsider) and out of 'Sena Julia'.

I can't find anything on Sena Julia at all. My guess is that she was a TB, purely based on the fact that my mare looks very TB'ish, but then seems strange that a Baron Blakeney offspring doesn't come up on any of the pedigree sites, and 'Megan' doesn't sound like a racehorse name!

Any ideas anyone?

Hi CrazyDancer , I am not an expert at all, but did much research into my Thoroughbreds ancestry. Had lots of problems due to ancient spelling errors and multiple names ... like Megan. There are no Megan in her bloodline that I am aware of, but the AllbreedsPedigree site shows there a quite a few Megans, Thoroughbreds included. There are a few Julias too, and I tried alternative spelling of Sena, but no joy.
Best of luck with your research
Teg :)

WOW!! Thanks so much for finding that!! It makes total sense about Senna Julia being chestnut, as my mare is, and all parentage I have found so far has been grey! So she may have a pop in her as well, shame that I don't jump :D
But it fills in all the blanks, that's wonderful, thank you SO much!

Just as I thought, reply from BE about contacting Ms Meakin

We have a Miss Meakin who owned that horse on our database but she has not been a member since 2001 and I do not know if her details are up to date. We have no email or mobile numbers so you would need to write a letter in to us and ask us to forward it to her address, which may or may not be up to date.

Thanks for trying! I do have her breeder details too, but again, don't know if they will still be there, but will try.

So my mare is a definate half Connie, 3/8ths TB, and 1/8 unknown, that would be Siena as shown on the details you found. Allbreeds gives 2 possibilities that would fit an approx age, one a Standardbred, the other Hanovarian.

Once she's filled out a bit more I'll post some piccies and everyone can guess the missing 1/8th!!
She does look like a small but stocky TB though.
:)
