Any photos of Suffolk Punch x Arabs?

Oh wow what a cross! I've never seen one let alone got a photo but my mum had an Arab x Irish draft and he was stunning. People used to think he was Spanish and a dealer offered me 5k for him on the spot after seeing me schooling him for 5 min! Sadly though he was a total wuss jumping and downed tools if he knocked a pole...

Wilfred blunt crossed arabs with suffolk punches at Crabbet. There may be some old photos
at the AHS or private archives. Worth investigating.

Just out of interest..why would you want that cross?

Just to give you an idea of something heavy and an arab :

TuscanBunnyGirl - "Just out of interest..why would you want that cross?" - Because it seems that unintentionally when I bought my mare many years ago that is what I got! I was curious to see what others looked like.

Lovely horse,
I know of one, a lot heavier than yours, but still quality, that is as good as gold as a hiking horse, nothing phases him, even juggernauts whizzing past.He has big feet, which he is not always careful with, a dream to handle and capable of carrying his and his riders belongings in saddle bags for days on end.

She is only 15.3 but yes her feet are big for her size, as you can see she can leave the ground ok

I have a 1/4 suffolk punch, 1/4 irish sport, 1/2 TB. I think he's gorgeous! A middlewieght with a lovely gentle personality and very ginger! Will find a photo to post if you are interested.

Like any breeding, it could turn out exactly what you want or it could turn out top heavy on spindly legs!!!!!

Would have thought if you put light onto heavy the chances are it will turn out with the body in co-ordination with the legs. :D :D

I have an arab who was brought up by a suffolk punch adoptive mother after his own rejected him. It's not quite the same thing but he owes the breed a lot.

I don't think there are a lot of actual suffolk crosses around as with the breed being so rare most matings are concerned with just keeping the breed alive.

Your horse is lovely, Magic.

My first horse was 1/4 highland, 5/8 arab & 1/8 tb, often mistaken for a heavier type anglo. Her previous owner put her to a pure bred cleveland bay, & got a fine arab filly as the result.....

Sorry, not being helpful but just wanted to say what a lovely looking cross. I'm a big Arab fan, having owned them in the past and currently have a IDxTB and a 100% pure Percheron so can really appreciate her - she's got that smashing rich chestnut SP coloured coat as well, just lovely.
