Any point affiliating if going to start at prelim anyway??

Just been on a little dressage boot camp style holiday for a few days and its done the trick im all fired up and ready to go out and compete again, booked to go out and have a go at my first novice ( scared stiff!!! ) and have booked 3 dates unaffiliated for may. However not sure if to affiliate or not just yet, would start at prelim and not sure if worth it till going out and scoring high in novice unaffiliated??? Would affiliating have any benefit at the level im at, im aware you can compete at prelim affiliated without being affiliated. Bit new to dressage and just wondered what the general view is really!!

You can do prelim affiliated without being registered so I would have a go, You can still qualify for the area festivals too

If you just join yourself as the rider, you can collect qualifications for regionals if you do well, and join the horse nearer the regionals if you qualify. although there tends to only be a few entries in the open sections near us, so it all depends what you want to do.
