Hi all,
On Sundsy we unfortunately lost my little old mini lop bunny who weve had for 9 years. He was bonded to our younger dutch female who we rescued around 2 years ago, we estimate she is around 4 year old. Since losing pancakes, she has not moved from her bed other than to use her litter tray. She hasn't touched her hay, pellet food or veggies. I keep replacing them and giving her fresh but she just wont touch them. The only thing I've managed to get her to eat is blueberries but I'm reluctant to give her too many of those. Does anyone have any ideas on how we can get her to eat/exercise. She is very nervous and has never particularly enjoyed human interaction but she just seems so much worse now. Little pic of the pair of them lazing about last summer

Try fresh coriander leaves and dandelion if you can find any. I've also used lactol in the past, either on its own or used to make porridge, it smells sweet so might tempt her.

She is beautiful, bunnies do grieve just like we do, and ita not uncommon for them to get depressed and not eat/as much as they used to.

Try giving a stuffed toy, so theres something fluffy to snuggle up to, try fresh herbs, spinach, kale, light leafy greens.

If she stops pooping, give your vet a call, wouldn't want her going into statis.

Maybe consider finding her a new companion to bond with too.

Soft nose strokes for your bunny and hugs for you.

Thank you both, she is prone to Stasis which is why I'm so worried. I have tried all of her favourite leafy veggies. She has nibbled on some kale but still hasn't touched any hay.
I have tentatively looked for a new companion for her but I'd much rather give a home to an older bunny and they all seem to be under 2 years old. If anyone knows of any older buns looking for a home in the north east let me know

I had to get another rabbit. I didn’t particularly want to keep going tbh. We lost our lovely one and then had to get another as a companion to his companion! They don’t get on as well but it brightened her up pretty much instantly, even if at first it were just to keep the newbie away from the food ?
Can you maybe get a friend? I got mine from the Blue X, it was quite nice as I was able to take the one that no one wanted rather than the cuddly easy to home ones.

I had two sister bunnies; we lost one to some sort of horrible neurological problem last year. They were both about six. I also wanted a bunny of a similar age and found (like you) that most of what is available for rehoming is very young. However when I looked on Rabbit Rehome and followed up with some of the more local places, we found a 7 year old boy rabbit who looked suitable. Our rabbit went to stay at the sanctuary for a week for supervised buddying-up and they got on really well. We now have them both at home and it seems to be working out well.

Good luck, you'll find one if you look hard enough! And in the meantime, Ella's Kitchen baby food, particularly the carrot based one, goes down really well. Mix it with Critical Care or something similar (https://www.oxbowanimalhealth.com/our-products/professional-line/critical-care/ ) and you can feed it off a spoon of from a big syringe. The Critical Care is good for keeping their guts going and getting nutrients in.

A stuffed toy in the interim whilst looking for another companion for her. Also try parsley and lemon balm for food if you can, agree with recommendations for critical care. Sorry for yours and rabbit's loss ?
