Okay..
Well I know next to nothing about racehorse breeding or bloodlines ect despite working part time as a racing groom

So I have my heart set on this gorgeous 3 year old filly..Speaking to the yard, they've said they might keep her as a broodmare if she has a above average racing career, otherwise they might give or cheaply sell her to me.

Only I have no idea what a average racing career IS.

Her name is Tremelo Pointe, she's out of Kapria by Trempolino if this means anything to you..

She's had 3 starts, she won the first, came 5th out of 10 the second time and ran today and got equal 2nd (even on the photo they were dead heat 2nd) today. She's 3 by the way.

Would those results already make her more likely to become a broodmare than selling her to me, or how much would she need to win to be real broodmare material, if anyone has any ideas?

Please be honest..Feeling quite miserable as I stupidely had my hopes set on taking her home with me one day and getting someone to help me rehabilitate her ect..

Okay, thanks..Though it was only before this race that I enquired and they seemed under the impression she wasn't on the way to a shining career? I dunno, sounds like you know more about it than me.

Thanks

Sadly her half brother ( an 05 colt) is doing fantastically well and has been entered for a few grade1 and grade 2 races this year, his rating is steadily increasing to above 100 which means he is at the top end of the scale and he is still only 2 so he could either improve vastly as a 3 year old or be a flop.

Because of this alone, it will mean that your mare will be rather valuable as a broodmare Im afraid, but dont quote me on this, I really dont know all that much about the game, but ask Vicijp on here about this.

Thanks..:( Not exactly what I wanted to hear but it's better than me living in hope for the next year or so I suppose heh..Thanks anyway

You never know, wonders CAN happen just keep your tabs on the mare and make sure that the owners/trainers know exactly how much you want her! ( &keep reminding them, as they will forget!)

You just said everything I was gonna say! That's a rather smart 2yo she has as a half sibling - sorry mate!

Re pedigrees look on http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/index.ph...l_font=1&l=
I have created a pedigree for her there for you and there are pictures of her ancestors. Also for more performance details http://www.pedigreequery.com/tremelo+pointe

Hers is a total outcross pedigree, ie there are no influential ancestors common to sire and dam. Trempolino has not produced a high quantity of group performers at stud despite having been presented with some of the best blood in Europe indeed he has a high percentage of unraced offspring and this is not a high fashion pedigree and because of the lack of inbreeding is not a powerful pedigree. If her brother were to win a group one then she would be more valuable initially and then it would depend on what she produced but quite frankly there are better bred individuals out there. She would really need to win a black type race ( group level - so called as tthe mare is then listed in racing records in bold black typeface) to be a valuable broodmare or above average would be a high rated handicap.

Her sire Trempolino’s wins were impressive

Your filly is not bred along the lines of either of these two. Do your homework use these arguments to lower her price and pray the brother is only mediocre and you have yourself a nice filly. I guess she might be a grey?

My mare is out of a full sister of a Dewhurst winner and 3rd highest rated 2yo in Europe by a group 2 winning miler and sire of a Queen Mother Champion Chase winner and I paid £500 for her as a yearling!!!

Trempolino shuttled to Brazil (not the des res) in 2002 Posted: Tuesday, August 27, 2002

He also has some consignments for National Hunt sales and was bought and sold by London Thoroughbred Services suggesting his value is dropping as a stallion. So get negotiating.

Her mother is group 3 and listed placed, so she is always going to have some value as a broodmare. However, the 2nd generation is crap which dampens it somewhat.
Her brother is undoubtedly talented, but is in the no mans land of being rated in the 90's. Has already failed to pick up black type in a listed race and a group 2, and unless he shows improvement will find it hard to win better than that. He is obviously highly thought of, but getting btn in a hcp off 97 is not usually the path to group 1 glory!
The filly herself is possibly badly handicapped, and their is probably not much improvement in her mark.
Basically, if she has to drop to late 50's to win a hcp she will not be worth a lot for breeding, but if the brother improves to pick up black type she will be worth a lot.

-blink- xD I am a little lost.

Thanks VERY much for looking all this up and finding her family tree.

Unfortunatly I'm now rather confused -laughs- But I think I sort of understand. I'll keep an eye on her and still work there part time now and then (when I have holidays since I'm still studying) and casually remind them now and again that I want to take her home.

Thanks ever so much very very useful information

And yep, she's grey

Basically, black type is a good race. So, Group 1, Group 2, Group 3 or Listed (does Listed count as black type? I've been out of the loop for quite a while

The brother sounds to be quite highly rated, but maybe not as good as his rating? I think things will depend a lot on how he matures - they're not going to want to let go of your mare until they find out how he does as a 3 year old.
