Trying not to get ahead of myself but...

If I bring the Orange one back in foal, I still need to keep her on some grass restriction or she'll balloon as our grass is a bit mental at her home yard... not risking lammi with an in foal mare...

So she will be getting some decent grass, which I might supplement with hay, but can anyone recommend a good supplement to make sure she's getting all her vitamins and minerals? I know limestone flour is a good one, we've alway used stud mix plus that from early on but that was on a pony that sometimes struggled with condition, and a TB that has a tendency to be lean...

Asti being inclined in a more porky way, needs to be watched and not fed up!

Ideas?

Ta. I was really gutted for you with that. I'm desperatley trying not to get my hopes up just in case - I mean there's no guarantees at all in this is there?

She's seeing the vet today about that bleeding problem, I know its probably nothing and just a hymenal rupture but I'm not risking it. I'd rather waste the vest fees on that than miss an infection or worse.

How neurotic am I going to be for 11 months? It seemed so easy with the pony when I bred Asti but I delivered her and she's always been my baby so this has got me in bits already!

I know its off topic but hows your new un doing? I love the name BTW!

You could try Lo Cal from Baileys or their Stud Balancer both of which would cut down on the hard feed she'll need in the last trimester. Until then, her usual diet will easily suffice.

I gave my mare the FeelGood 30 general one until she was 5 months pregnant, then I gave her their Mare and Foal one for 3 months. I didn't bother with anything for the last 3 months as she was on stud mix which has all sorts in it already.

Do let us know how you get on with the vet - I was thinking about this earlier.

I though that I would be neurotic. But actually - once she was scanned in foal at 42 days, and came home I was fine. It was the 15 day scan that got to me.

My little Thumper is just fine thanks for asking.

Hannah was on TopSpec Leisure throughout her pregnancy and is still on it now... she has carried quite a bit of weight after having Troy so she is now on hay and just a small feed with the Balancer in it.

I looked at her last night and she still has her foal belly, but the rest of her has lost an awful lot of weight over the past few weeks... I don't think her foal belly will go until she is back in full work.

Would really recommend Bailey's Stud Balancer : its lo cal, and has all the vits and mins that an in-foal and lactating mare needs. My ISH mare, who is an incredibly good doer, has really flourished on it, and Baileys are very helpful if you write or call them for advice.

Yeah, I can see that - the 14 days is the "Is she or isn't she" big question... 42 day is how is she progressing...

Next week then is the big question...

Have put her on feelgood 30 for now which she has with hoofkind and a tiny sprinkle of coarse mix - trying not to let her get huge... and I'll look at the Baileys one for later. I figure the general one is not counting my chickens as its a supplement for any horse, not specifically in foal...

I will not jinx it, I will not....
