Looking to get some, just wanted some suggestions?

Is is just as good to buy cheap and cheerful over trousers, or is there any specific benefit to buying riding specific ones?

One of the magazines has done a test thingy on them this month - I saw it when I was at the supermarket!

. Might have been Horse? They tried 8 or 10 different makes.

This months Horse mag have a tried and tested on overtrousers. They were judged on appearance, performance, fit, practicality and value. The ones that scored 10/10 were Musto Gore-Tex but at £150 they need to be good! Three pairs got a nine and ranged from £17 to £70. It is a useful artical that makes some good points about what to look for.

I have the Dublin Thermal ones which I find a bit too warm and a bit bulky tbh which is what the tester in the article says. I also bought a pair of ordinary overtrousers (with full length side zips) from an outdoor/workwear supplier. they are OK but not much good for riding in and not warm enough. Still need to find a happy medium.

I wear these, very good & very comfy. Expensive but mine have lasted for years. You can also get unpadded ones that you wear over jods/jeans.

I prefer these ones either on their own or with leggings/long johns underneath. They are designed for riding in.

Sizes are a bit weird as they are Italian & they are made with racing folk in mind so wouldnt fit the larger figure!!!

I wear my ski trousers when it's chilly and just got some fab waterproof ones with zips at the bottom of the leg with zips and velcro bits from ALDI (!), only £8 and i love them!

A second vote for the Ornella Prosperi ones, I couldn't remember the name earlier. Being in a racing area everyone round here seems to wear these and they are pretty good.

I have the rambo fleecy waterproof chaps. Lovely and cosy and good for riding etc. They do a cotton lined pair too. About £35 I think.
