My boy broke his pelvis in the past, which has left him asymmetric. He is bilaterally lame on his right hind and left fore but is able to do light work. He also has bone spavins (i think they are fused). Regular physio every 3 months from a wonderful bodyworker is helping him become more comfortable

Just wondering about joint supplements really. I've tried quite a few of them but none of them have really made a great difference. I've tried:

Riaflex Complete (good but expensive!)
NAF Superflex
Hilton Herbs Multiflex
Hilton Herbs Releaf
FeelGood 30 Joint + Relief

He's currently on GlobalHerbs MoveFree and Bute X, Im trying to avoid devil's claw as I have a feeling he may have stomach ulcers

Any other suggestions? As you can see Im torn between supplements that provide pain relief and ones that actively work on the joints.

have you tried cortaflex? i also had my mares on mobifor from the vet which was very good.
i had great results from a trial supplement which was naf vet superflex, which worked wonders on my old mare, but unfortunately it was only a trial and dont think anything has come from it yet

Your poor boy! Im with you all the way and have OAPs and cripples here. My vets, who run an equine clinic tell me that the only PROVEN joint suppliment which works is Synequin/Cosequin. I have two of mine on it atm for spavin. It is pretty expensive from the vets but you can get it at less than half the price on t'internet. Cant comment on Newmarket Joint Suppliment though but Im sure others on here can.

Have you tried Coligone for his tummy? A number of forum members use it and I can personally recommend it. I use it on my recovering laminitic when I change grazing, have used it pre and post operative on my mare who underwent surgery recently. It is excellent for cribbers and stressers - here's a link which makes good reading ... http://hbradshaws.co.uk/index.php

I admire you for moving the earth for your neddy. Please keep us updated. Hx

thanks everyone for the helpful replies

I have tried him on coligone liquid and he certainly responds to it, but it is very expensive to give to him everyday! I've settled with using Global Herbs Acid-X and keep a bottle of coligone for when he's stressed/showing some tummy pain.
