Iv got two of these gorgeous dogs, ones 4 and the others 9 months. Just wondering what it is u love/can't stand about them!

I love their loyalty, cheek, and sense of humours! There's not much I can't stand except possibly the fact that all these indestructible toys aren't that indestructible! They get through the xxl kongs within a week!

I love their absoloute loyalty too, I find them a pretty bidable fun and playful breed, I have yet to meet a miserable rotti,

are not the brightest either, esp when u are used to having shepherd as a large breed dog, then switch to a rottie

Never met or owned a one that is destructive, mine is an angel, even all the rescues that pass through, they have all been fab, the only thing im not into is the excess drooling when they are fixated on food, they are dustbins

Mine is extremely loyal loves people and a very cuddly soul. She is very protective towards me but unfortunately she is not good with other dogs.
Jrt's she's fine with but 'black dogs ' her hackles are up.The local dog walkers are aware she is a grump so we avoid meeting on the same side of the road. Needless to say she is not let off the lead when there are other dogs around.
You would be amazed at how many people think it's ok to let their dogs run loose up to her and then wonder why she has a grump with them. I had to shout at a woman a few weeks ago as she let her dogs run up to mine(they came from behind so it surprised me as well as the dog !)
and one of them was snapping at her face. The owner was to far away to have any control over them and they certainly didn't do instant recall.
I'll give my rottie her due she just dropped her shoulder and pinned it to the floor. She could of quite easily had it by the throat and shaken it.
I have to say at this point even though she is a grump she has never bitten anyone or anything and as such is not muzzled.I am careful where I walk her and avoid the main doggy routes but you do meet the odd muppet. I have seen this woman since and her dogs are now on the lead when she walks them a lesson learned methinks.......

My mother had her second rottie 2 months after I was born, so I grew up with them

It pisses me off when I hear what people say about them being aggressive. It's like saying all stallions are crazy :P haha
I've always found them quiet *cough*lazy*cough* obedient, easy to train, loyal, and good for keeping people away from you down to their bad reputation

Put it this way, we've now got Australian Cattle Dogs (last Rott went not long ago unfortunately) and they're hell to deal with in comparison, despite being smaller! Got to love rotties

Not to mention, personally, I find them more trustworthy than labs/golden retrievers... bet most people don't realise that more dog bites are caused by these than any other breed? So sweet looking, sure, but quite often with sharp temperaments. Hmm... sorry, it just bugs me, but so do many things! xD

I have a 2.5 year old rottie and he is loyal, protective, arrogant, has a lack of common sense but makes me laugh at least once a day.

I had a german shepherd before him and I must say he isn't as loyal or intelligent as her. Having said that he is extremely quick to learn and obedient but you must have 100% of his attention. If he is in training mode he is fab, if not he is a monkey, not naughty just a monkey. He lacks common sense, crashes into things and sometimes doesn't realise his size.

He is very friendly with people he knows, a bit too friendly sometimes and he thinks he is a lap dog and wants to sit on you all the time. But he is a bit partial to strangers. I keep telling him they are not for eating but will he listen ;O)
He has a habit of runnign up to strangers for cuddles, then suddenly realising he doesn't know them and will then bark at them and has actually caught 2 people doign this, not biting but catching their hand with his teeth where he is barking so close to them. I had to buy a muzzle for him for when we go places, more just in case than anything else. He is absolutely fine with people he knows and is perfectly fine with other dogs.

He has a good recall to the point people are amazed that I can stop him mid flight as most dogs put their fingers in their ears.

He does try and herd the horses though which is extremely annoying. I have tried to stop this ever since he was a puppy but he still does it so have just accepted its him and shut him away if I am schooling or turning out.

He is a cool dog though. I wouldn't suggest one as a first time dog owner as he has been hard work and I think someone would struggle and maybe thats why a lot turn nasty as they can be quite dominant, plus the fact people sometimes have them as a status thing.

Not sure I'd get another though because of the arrogance, I think I'd go for another German Shepherd but I love mine to bits.

I have 2 a brother and sister although not from the same litter. I am positive they would protect me if I was being threatened. The dog in particular is very close to me. He loves to "hold" peoples hand in his mouth, which they find quite disconcerting if they don't know him! The bitch loves everybody. They are territorial and guard their patch obsessively. Sage has a hysterical bark that gets higher and higher pitched the more excited she gets.
I hate the bad press they get. Trained and treated correctly they are loyal and loving.
