any saddlers on here?

Sorry, I know this is more suited to careers but I couldn't find much on what I was looking for when I did a search.

How did you go about becoming a saddler?

I've been on the society of master saddlers website and from what I can see, there are two ways to get started:
1) go to a training centre
2) find a master saddler willing to take on an apprentice

Any extra info would be appreciated - I want to go back to uni/college while I'm still able to

hello, thanks tinsel, there's a couple of us on here as well as a few saddle fitters, if you train as a saddler you will learn not only how to design, make, alter and repair all saddlery but have an indepth knowledge of material sciences as well as lorinery. You will also be taught how to fit and flock up saddles, how to fit lorinery and bridlework.Plus loads more!

I've had a wee look on the master saddlers website and there's a course in Galashiels
I might have a nosey at that and are if it's going to suit.
