All of the water my girls get comes from rainfall. I have a water butt collecting rain from the gutters, and my trough is filled from the gutter on my field shelter. I also have a pump which pumps water from the stream which also obviously contains rain water.

We are due rain tonight/tomorrow and I've heard from a few places that's it's likely to have ash particles in it. After reading the articles about how toxic the ash is to the animals in Iceland if ingested, I'm a little worried.

Does anyone know how much ash will actually be in the rain, and if it will be diluted enough to be OK or whether I should be taking some tap water down for them?

:confused:What a bizarre thing to say....I can confirm that the RAF Typhoons were grounded earlier in the week due to there being deposits of ash found in their engines after 1 days training around my valley.

I also know it was all over my car when I washed it yesterday! :p

And it has been confirmed by many scientists that there are billions of micro particles in the air.

Not sure where you got the thing about the government but NATS is an independently run organisation, they really have nothing to do with the government - that's like saying ASDA is run by the government!

You should also read this, I'd rather be stuck in an airport myself.

Um it is the goverment... the met office is a goverment funded through the MOD that was who advised NATS and there are plenty of scienstists who think it was wrong, there was a report in 2007 which said ..We dont have any reliable way of monitoring volcanic ash !!!! and aparently the met office's plane was grounded for repainting during this incident .... the goverment is responsable for our laws and safety thats what they are suposed to do ....

I think your a little confused .. and I think the red rose is for Lancashire not the great county of Yorkshire, you should have a white one perhaps!!!....

I heard on the radio a weather person saying that the ash clouds (whatever they are called) are being blown back by a southerly wind, so back to Iceland. He said that about 3 days ago. I know that prob doesn't help you one bit :o sorry :D

I understand now why HHO is so quiet these days...I ask a valid question about something I'm worried about and I get some ego-tistic government hater shouting pap at me. :(
Pap !!! lol not a goverment hater!!!! ooh just because I think for myself and read/watch the news and try to keep up with current affairs im ego- tistical??? you asked a question I looked at your post and answered with my opinion maybe Im wrong time will tell because like me a lot of other people are asking some akward questions!!! oh and I love your link to cnn that reporter was obviously not chosen for her brains!!! mind I think Fox news still has the best lookers and they can interview too!!!
hey dont take me too seriously, have fun and remember some people will have differing opinions to yours always try to understand there viewpoint and question your own beliefs as well as theirs...

What the hell is going on around here lately?
ETA better explain myself, perfect11's you seem to be coming across as quite agressive, alomost as though you are really p1ssed off at the OP, she only wanted to know about ash??? UNLESS!! it's the ash that is affecting us all :D

Lol!

Well anyway - I don't think it will harm her! And I agree - my car was stinking before I washed it. £5 for a wash that couldn't even get the bird poo off! Argh rip off!

no sorry Im not meaning to be aggressive and I dont want to offend anyone young or old a bit of debate and teasing maybe, but its not ment in a nasty way at all..

I shouldn't have said anything really :D sticking my nose in again :o Lets hope the ash goes back to Iceland and stays there!
