Just wondering how you are coping with the winter weather. I am flagging already, and this is the first year I have felt Ive had enough even before Christmas! I have two on DIY and they are the dirtiest animals imaginable. Beginning to worry a bit about the future of my horses as Im getting older, one could go grass livery but the other definitely couldnt. No one near us seems to do grass livery anyway.Always thought by the time I got too old my horses would have been no longer around as they are not youngsters either. Any tips
OAPs !!

Hey!! I'm nearly 62, have 4 horses that are stabled at night so loads of mucking out to do, cann't do much in this weather and 4 dogs to walk after that. SOOO!! my housework is done on the run.l Must admit this snow and ice and freezing fog and cann't drive into my field so having to carry feedbags on my shoulder over (steep hill) has got me down a little:(:(:( My only thought is I've gotten my mare's teeth done after 6 years(as she's a nightmare)) and having her front shoes put on in the spring and the vet says there is a new drug out for sweet-itch that could help her, so I'm looking forward to next spring.:D:D:D

I seem to be flagging this year. Have five on rented field going into second year here. Although its easier putting hay out they were just across the road from me before. Now I feel Id rather sit and watch telly than go for a ride. Although had a lovely summer. got a daughter who helps although she has young baby so not as much as she used to. Hopefully if anything happens to me she and my grandaughter will keep them

Hi both! You have more than me ! Why do we do it. I dont really ride much now, but have to keep the horses as one old and crocked the other getting old and v insecure so couldnt move him on. I dont have any family help so been doing everything myself. Keeps me from having to go to the gym, and keeps the bingo wings at bay! But do worry about coping as the years go by. Roll on the summer, only 6 months to go.

Must admit in the winter I wonder why, cause the lack of daylight, I tended to sleep alot, like early to bed (7-8.30pm) and get housework done after hubby gone to work, get 4 unruly dogs in car and HEYHO. But must admit with out the horses, in winter I wouldn't get up at all and yes I do it all by myself, just looking forward to spring, early mornings as I'm an early bird, so winter sends my body out of whack:):)

Hi! So far this winter I'm doing ok thankfully tho' mine are woolly natives living out. I let the dog have the run of the 15 acres while I'm checking boys/poo picking then he'll have a short walk later. Do this twice daily. Housework is done when I feel like doing it! Physically, I take painkillers when/if the arthritis gets bad, but find keeping active helps alot. Going to bed earlier lately as I have bronchitis atm. Wouldn't be without horses tho' !!!
