Any Shropshire people

Hi,

We have been asked my a lovely lady from our local hunt if we wanted to go up to Shropshire for a days hunting with the United (it'll be the 8th/9th/10th December) and hopefully see the kennels as her son is a whip up there

Anyone know what the country is like? Coming from flat ol' Suffolk I think I'll be in for a bit of a shock as my boy has never seen a proper hedge or stone wall! :shocked: :grin:

Dn't worry - you won't see proper hedges or stone walls in the United country. Chances are you'll see a hill or three though! Most of the fairly vast country (the biggest hunt country in England, I believe) is pretty open - not much jumping - and hardly any roads!

They're a pretty friendly lot - my OH is joint master there.

If it's anything like the Wheatland/South Shropshire country there won't be any stone walls and you probably won't encounter any vast hedges, just little ones and timber. As JanetGeorge says there may well be hills over that way though! We're on thick clay soil so it's likely to be heavy going especially in the valleys. I hope you have a nice time.

No stone walls and not really any hedges to write home about the odd one but mainly post and rail and hunt jumps. Lots of dingles (banks with streams and the bottom and up the other side) they are reknowned for mud and mess. United although I havent hunted with them I have heard good things. ENJOY!
