My friend put her gelding on this feed and it has worked wonders with regard to giving him more energy and getting rid of his warts!! No joke his muzzle was covered, now a few weeks later they have ALL gone! Would not have believed it unless I'd seen it!

So now the big sports horse on the yard is on it too, so have called today to discuss what would be best for Ruby and am having her new feed delivered soon!

Fingers x she actually likes it and eats it thou, she is a fussy mare!

I have used it for several years - I use the chaffs for my cob and clydesdale.

Our old clydesdale when put onto it had a lot more energy and stamina compared to when he was fed mix and sticky chaff.

I very much like this way of feeding - big fibre based meals with no sugar or cereals and mine look very good on it.

I have used it for years also. i still use the chaff and beet but i had to change him from the lucinuts as he is a fussy eater and no matter what i did i couldnt get him to eat it all and th blue grass nuts gave him too much energy. Its a fab system though. Allen and pages products are also natural.

I tried it for some time but it didnt suit my 2 arabs. I find they do best on my own ad-lib hay, grass 24/7 and 2 feeds a day of a condition mix, any make,eg Spillers

Mine have been on it for roughly 2 1/2 years. i use a few of their products (lucienuts, red & blue bag grass nuts and linseed) with great results. Even my laminitic pony thrives on the SS.
My very picky WB mare wasnt fond on it at first but i was told by my friend that as there is such a high sugar content in a lot of feeds and none in SS that she would have to get over her sugar need and get used to the SS.
well she did and she now wolfs it down, even kick the other girls off their feeds if shes finished first.

I am a complete convert! It is amazing stuff. We have the whole yard on it (all types of horses, work load and ages) all have gained from it.

My mare is the fussiest over anything-took a while but once she realised that was all she was getting (aswell as adding a few mint chopped up mint leaves!) she absolutely loves it now.

Hope it works.

Not a fan I'm afraid. I know quite a few people who have used it but have given up and moved onto other things. What I don't like is the amount of different things you have to feed and all the soaking - it's anything but simple. Plus the amount you have to feed are not realistic for some horses and a lot of horses don't find it very palatable.

There are better (and cheaper!) alternatives. I've started feeding the A&P sugar free mixes .... L Mix and the Sugar and Cereal Intolerance diet. Dead simple to feed, completely sugar and cereal free and the horses seem to like it too - even though it doesn't smell as nice as the 'junk' food mixes.

I think there are cheaper alternatives. The basis behind it is great - feeding fibre- but you dont need to be a convert to a system to do that.

Completely agree with TeddyT. I dont feed mollassed chaffs or heavily mollassed feed, and stick to fibre and oil based diets and do it easily with readily available brands

I tried it years ago for my anglo as he was very poor when I got him and the quantities they advised were ridiculous! I fed half the amount and he was still overfaced - he ended up painting his stable with it one night so I switched back to just hi-fi and spillers nuts. I used the sugar beet for a while but then switched to speedi-beet as so much quicker.

Agree with g_girl - there is lots of soaking and various things need to be soaked for 20 mins, others for 4 hrs and others 24hrs etc. I know you could lump it all in together but that made it worse in terms of palatability, especially as I tried in summer and it all sort of went a bit rancid. And the bowls were heavy after adding water.

I think Bosworth on here has her entire yard on it so should be able to give more advice.

As above, the principle is good but the actualy system was too much faff and my horse who is a greedy pig actually went off his food. Price wise I thought it was relatively cheap at the time, but you have to order an awful lot from them to get them to deliver. You can get lots of cheaper alternatives e.h. their linseed stuff is good but I think you can get ground linseed cheaper from somewhere like Charnwood Milling (I get mine from Equus).

I have all my 6 on it. They are all different from a foal to shire x. Fab food, all look great and its really simple to use. I just put the lucie nuts and purabeet in 1 bucket and soak, add total eclipse and mix with lucie stalks.
