Post title says it all really - y/o running out of hay and normal supplier has sold all of his. Horses are in part of the day as grass is in short supply too. (AAARRGGHH) Would like to collect decent hay from a 20 mile radius of Leamington Spa. Please PM me if you can help. Thank you so much.

Sorry, but you'll be very lucky to find any

Farrier came the other day, and he makes a lot of hay, well normally he does! Anyway a lady phones him asking for hay, he said he didn't have any yet. Lady says shes desperate, he then says hes got 4 small bales from last year she could have. She jumped at it. He then asks her where she is to give her directions.................she was from Birmingham!

So she came all the way from Birmingham to Lighthorne to collect 4 small bales of hay.

We haven't made ours yet, and the farmers we know are struggling. You could try Hutsbys from Wellesbourne?! But I know they've been struggling.

Thanks, Rockchick and _Claire_. Realise every one in same boat but was worth asking! All fields round us still uncut (Unless used for silage/haylage) As you say very concerning re. price and whether regular supplier will keep hay for individuals over winter or sell it to the highest bidder? Could be the time to look into feeding haylage/ Thanks again for you advice.

will check out.

I was down to last bale yesterday as YO cannot get any in, our usual supplier hasnt any left. I grabbed the Yellow Pages and phoned the farmers. I got about 6 answer phones, about 8 x no sorrys, but I finally found a farmer with the big oblong bales at £20 a bale and he was only 1/2 mile down the road from livery yard, and he delivered them. So me and a friend had 2 each and so it should see us through til the new hay comes in.
Just phone round the farmers, you will find some. GL
