My poor girl is in alot of pain at the mo she has 2 abscesses, 1 in her front foot and 1 in her back opposite foot.
The vet has been out as it took me nearly 1/2 to get in from the field which just outside her stable.

At first I thought she had fractured her pelvis as her back legs couldn't coordinate so she was nearly sitting down every few steps very scarey.

She has had bloods taken as he is trying to cover all bases he thought she may have herpes??? (something to do with breeding mares she has only had 1 foal and that was 5 years ago)not quite sure what thats all about something to do with the way she is presenting?

So she is in the box with 2 poulticed feet(sorry crap english brain fuzzed) and stressing at the others out in the field she does have her field mate in the box next door to her but its not quite enough in her books.

Anyway the vet has given her a pain killer and I have to ring him in the morning with an update and he will come back out to see her later on.

I can't tell you how bad I'm feeling at the mo I pick her feet out everyday even when the out 24/7 I can't believe I missed it she must think she has the worst Mum ever to put her through that pain

So please send any spare healing vibes her way.
Many thanks

hope she gets better very soon, do not blame yourself for it, these things happen, )))))))))))))))))))))hugs((((((((((((((((((((

and )))))))))))))))))very big vibes(((((((((((((((((((((((((

loads of healin vibes comin....................you aint a bad mum bracken got abcesses one after the other and her feet where picked every day.its just one of those things x x x

Thanks the vet didn't want any more digging around at the moment as she fell to floor twice when he did it.But after the vets been tomorrow he said that Monday should be fine to get the farrier out to investigate some more, just give her a chance to recover after the delving he has done. I must admit it was a very scarey sight to see 16.2 mare drop to the floor in such pain.

I hope in some ways it is just abscesses and nothing else underline. I have been through so much with her.
Cassie fracture her hind cannon bone when she was 6 months old and when she was 8 she had keyhole surgery in both stifles.Well they do say what doesn't kill you makes you stronger lets hope so.

My highland went through a phase of having one after another. He seemed to be lame every other week. Its not something you can spot easily so dont blame yourself. Hope your poor horse gets well soon.

Get well vibes from me and mine! My old chap used to get abcesses a lot, so I know what it's like. The first time he had one I thought he was a goner, he just wouldn't move. I was like you and picked his feet out regularly, but it seems they get them anyway. My other horse has never had one (touch wood!), and she was always kept with the oldie, so there's no rhyme or reason to it! Hope your mare feels better soon.
