Our 17.2 TB always had his "still racing" look and would never put weight on. We completely re addressed his feeding regieme and he is now fed Allen & Paige Calm and Condition, mollichaff, Baileys No.17 mix and Baileys outshine. He looks amazing after 6 months now and has never hotted up. Apart from the mollichaff it is high fibre, low sugar and starch feed and has done really well on it. He also has Nettex gut balancer and glucosamine.

Tbh having looked at blue chip It's very low in goodness, I compared all balancers when my ex racer wouldnt put weight on and the feed he eat was stupid plus i tried everything but the one I used was equimins advance complete, fab stuff and puts most balancers to shame. I fed this in fast fibre and micro linseed and he put so much weight on, looked fab it comes with a full money back guarantee if it doesn't work but I can't rate the stuff enough. I wouldn't use anything else.

Sorry to hijack but can the spillers conditioning fibre be fed on its own (with ad lib hay). I'm trying to find a feed that will provide protein for muscle building, vitamins and minerals but not put weight on, as her weight is fine. It also has to be low sugar, low starch and high fibre, dont want much do I!. Does such a thing exsist?. Thanks :)

Yes it can, my lad came back from being sold and looked like an rspca case.
I think feed amount reccomended fir a 16.2 was 2.5kg he had two feeds aday at this amount with lunch aswell some days

He had hay/hayledge up to 13kg a day too so pretty much ad lib

Id reccomend wetting the feed as its fairly dry and a bag will only last 4/5 days feeding the way I did...its around 11 pound a bag.

Sorry just to add if you don't want it fir weight gain its a pointless feed as you would be feeding UNDER the daily amounts which then would not contain correct mins and vits for the purpose.

Imo feed a molasses free chaff or even ready grass and get a good supplement

Pure feeds condition is excellent keeps doo looking tip top cant recommend it enough. High fibre low sugar not need for mineral supp if feeding recommended amount. She was on Calm and Condition does its job but full of sugar blew her mind .

Many thanks for the replies, its such a minefield! I've also been looking at baileys no14 balancer? but I've looked at the purefeeds website as well and they do look impressive. I might give pure a ring tomorrow.

Thanks again :)

I would recommend the Spillers Conditioning Fibre. Ours didn't do as well as we had liked on the Pure Feeds (which we fed for a year) but the Spillers has made them look great.

winergy condition, absolutely fantastic.

NMT feeds it to fig alongside linseed (3 scoops winergy and 2 mugs linseed per day) and he is a right little chunk now :)

CS has the high energy version and im also really really pleased with that, has put condition on him but also given him the zoooooooooom energy he needs.
