I have a 35kg Alsatian/Rottweiler dog that I have found best to walk him on using a dog harness. The only thing is that the webbing is being abraded away rapidly where the ring the lead attaches to it is rubbing on it.

So I wondered if any of you had any suggestions of any harnesses you have found to be good for large playfull dogs?

I will try and remember the brand we the one we had was fantastic and from your bog standard pet shop.... It was something like £9.99 and we had an 86 KG Irish Wolfhound who pulled like a train... I can stick a picture up if I don't fine the name...

problem with those ones is that plastic clips are not suitable for a large breed unless there are metal loops to take the main strain. When our dog was 10 months old he broke on of this type of design just playing!

i wouldnt walk a dog of that size in a harness it encourages pulling and if the dog took off after something you would be swept straight off your feet, haltis, gentle leaders and similar products are best thing to be honest as you have more control over the dog.

Harnesses in my opinion do not encourage pulling with training. Ours pulled terribly when young and we started him on the lead and collar then harness and training and past the age of 1 the pulling like a train diminished. Our dog had a neck bone that was 'butting' against another one so anything that interfered with his head was a no no.... If a dog that size wants to really go I guarantee a halti won't stop it! Haltis are great if your dog agrees with them but not all dogs do.

With a dog that size i suggest training classes and forget the harnes a trained dog is a happy dog . Sorry to sound blunt my friends whippet has just been attacked by a great dane that the owner had no control over and that was wearing a halti.

The Mikki training harness is the best for our Dobie (who was a rescue and who professional residential training for 3 weeks made no difference to.......!!)

It converts the pull into something you can control upwards rather than being pulled forwards. Esp good if they are very powerful and large in the shoulder.

It made the difference between me being able to walk my dog with complete control and having to get my OH to do it. And he much preferred it to a Halti, he couldnt bear that and never got used to it and constantly made his face bleed with rubbing on gravel, tarmac, whatever. No thanks!

The mikki is only about a tenner too so def worth a try, worked better than all the expensive stuff I tried!
