Wondering if anyone has seen anything like this and could help? My horse's skin has come out all flaky but only at the tops of his forelegs and across his chest. The area is completely bald as well and at the top the skin is beginning to depigment and become pink (he's dark bay!). The skin is also beginning to crack and scab at the bad patches. He's in top health and apart from this area he's looking amazing at the moment

Any help would be greatly appreciated... I'll try and get a picture up at some point if i can get him to stand still.....

Rainscald from dermatophilus bacterium? Hair comes out in tufts, and skin can be bald and a little weepy underneath (but not always).
From lying in damp fields/ places (same bacteria as causes mud fever). Wash with hibiscrub daily at first and then less frequently (if skin not bleeding) and keep scabs open. Creams can make it worse as the bacterium thrives in wet warm conditions - and cream seals in the moisture.
I've found best to leave bare, but try to keep the horse from lying in damp.
Hope this helps
