I have a 3yearold border collie who is overweight. He's okkay, hes not like 15stone or anything, but he could do with losing a few as we have just started agility and flyball.
It doesn't help that he still has his winter coat, which makes him look even fatter.
I think since he had the chop that he's put on weight.
He's now on a weight-control food, and we try our best to excersis him evrryday but my parents both work full time, and I'm in school all day. There isn't really anywhere I could take him on my own, as I'm still quite young unfortunetly.

any tips you could give me?
he really has to start getting fitter for flyball, as last time I took him he was fed up after doing half hour agility and half hour of soft flyballing.
thanks!

Get one started yourself...........cane or broom on a couple of garden chairs, makes a good jump....that will do for starters.

We use electric fence posts for weave poles and we put four wooden garden chairs in a long row to form a tunnel under the chairs! Then we have a plastic crate for Gercha to leap onto and do a sit and stay.

Have you got a bike, and maybe he could run alongside that? My cousin's Border Collie was once a bit plump, but no more, now that he runs five miles every other day.

Agility will be great for him as well.

oooo, good idea with the tunnel,TGM!!!!
Yeah he likes chasing me in the back fields when I'm on my bike, prose, so might take him when I can.

He's loving agility, we've already had a go at a course at a show and he was great!!! He just needs to learn the see-saw now.

he loves the A-frame and dog walk as well, but the jumps are like eating to him.
