I have a phobia about getting the showjumping course wrong! I have every confidence in my horse but NONE in myself, I easily forget the course, any tips how how to rememeber apart from the figure of eight would be very gratefully received!
Thanks

I know this doesn't help much but the more you do the easier it gets!
Try to jump each fence on its own, watch plenty of people jump the course before you and walk it if possible.

But really the only thing that helps is to get out and get as much experiance as possible!

Marinita try an visualise yourself going around the course. Walk up to each jump in order, then step back and look at the course. Follow your eyes around the course in order and visualise yourself going over each. This helps me, hopefully it will help you too.

i learn the overall pattern and also the colours (across the diagonal, rustic to red upright, turn right, yellow to green double down the long side, right again, wavy planks, that sort of thing, etc etc). run it through your head a few times and it really helps. also, saying to yourself beforehand "turn right after double" helps a lot, i've found.

i always walk the couse (obviously)

then stand facing the course and like use my finger in front of me going round the fences in mid air and mutter (like kerilli said) red oxer down to blue and white verticle, round to planks, then up the centre down the triple, round to the green oxer etc

then i face away from the fences as picture me going round the course in my head.

then just when there are two people ahead of me i watch them both and then just before i go in i look at it and repeat my finger in mid air going round the fences lol

it helps for me, best of luck xx
