After his day in the vets yest poor Boots is feeling very sorry for himself and not remotely interested in food. He needs to be fed before his anti-biotics but was throwing up last nite so won't even sniff. He has turned down his dog nuts, some plain rice and some plain chicken which is very unlike him and I want ideas of what will be gentle on his stomach and appetising to him. He is quite a pukey type of dog anyway....if something doesn't agree with him it comes straight back up so I'm not worried about giving him the runs or anything. Just want to get the drugs into him so he'll be comfy. On the plus side he obviously heard the vet say bedrest and is very diligently doing that lol

Bit of scrambled egg? Or fish? I usually put meds in a bit of cheese but that might not be a good idea if he's being sick so I'd use one of the first two.

Hope he feels better soon

My newfy has a sensitive stomach, she tends to be good on scambled egg (she will only eat it if it has pepper in tho!) also tuna seems to be a good one. She also has turkey mince and mix that with the egg or just give it plain.
Hope start eating soone

Brilliant I'll try him on scrambled egg or tuna. Vet has just given him todays anti-biotic dose by injection so he has 24hours to start eating at his own pace. If he stays throwing up it is back in for more tests incase infection has spread but at the moment temp is ok and eyes are clear which is good! I'd say he's been so sick he is a bit afraid to eat in case it makes him sick again

Tuna is definitely a surefire winner in most cases; failing that, have you tried diluted a little marmite or bovril and putting it over food?

Tuna (in sunflower oil) & scrambled eggs are certainly popular with mine, or their ultimate favourite is home cooked liver (puke!) and mince :)

Scrambled egg was turned down (so I got a nice cooked breakfast) but some plain cooked chicken breast was a winner so he has been eating away at that and it is very easy for me to hide tablets in lumps of chicken. Have got some liver for him for later as I'd say he could do with the iron boost. He is vastly improved today although leg has swelled up alot again so may need checked by vet again. Will talk to her in a while

If you need more variety and still need to tempt him try tinned pilchards or sardines in tomato sauce - most dogs go berserk for them! Avoid the ones in oil as they may be too oily if he's not been well.

Not nice but those cheap tripe rolls you get in Lidl or Asda? Chopped up and slightly warmed in the microwave and it temps the most relucant eaters. Just don't do it before you eat cos it stinks!!;)
