Any way possible to trace my mare's foal?

My mare had a colt foal in 2015 before I purchased her. Is there any way someone would know how to trace the foal not knowing his registered name?

The issue I have is that I was told he was sold in Germany at his grading.

He is by Campitello and the dam (my mare) is Quito de baussy/Nimmerdor x Codec

Any ideas?

Thank you

Where did you buy her from? If it was direct from Germany she should have arrived with both a passport and a certificate of ownership which is called an Eigentumsurkunde. The certificate should have her breeders name on it and the studbook she is registered with. That might be a good place to start, either online or by email to the breed society. You can sometimes see records of the foals sired by the stallion online and 2015 isn't that long ago.

Thank you both. The mare was with her breeder in 2015, so I am trying to contact him. He is actually UK based! And took her to the Hof Sosath in Germany, whatever that is? I have no idea if she stayed there or what happened as the foal looked very young in a photo I found. Hopefully her breeder will enlighten me if he replies.

They do tend to grade pretty young. My Westfalian pony was born in March and graded in May where he was branded as well. Good luck with your search, it is far easier finding information in Germany as the breed societies keep such meticulous records.

I have found all breed pedigree a good way of easily tracking ancestry and progeny if a horse is listed in it.
