Hi guys. Iv just won a saddle on eBay but have no idea what brand it is. The seller has said it has been valued by a Sadler at £280 and is good quality so I'm just wondering if anyone recognises it.
Big thanks for any help :)

Can only tell you what i have learnt from my own research into what i will buy. It looks to me as if they have measured the seat size wrong, its not very clear but looks like its 17 " which if so, is huge, I ride in a 17.5" English saddle and have been told I should look for a 15/16" western. I wouldn't personally hold much stock on what they say it is worth I'm afraid.

This is a good page to learn more

Just to add I bought it for plodding about out on a hack in so as long as it fits the boy I'm not overly concerned about the value. Just wondering if anyone recognises it :)

Please don't take this the wrong way, it is not an attack on you but that is, to my eye, an Indian copy western saddle and I wouldn't put it on my horse. It will also be incredibly uncomfortable for you. I'd put it back on Ebay and either buy a synthetic and/or treeless western saddle (which will at least be soft) or something genuinely manufactured in the USA. BTW, my first western saddle was one of those just like you have bought - I ended up taking it to the dump.

Thank you ttk. Will get it checked over by a saddler when it gets here but I did wonder if it was indian. How can you tell?

It's the stitching pattern on the seat that gives it that distinctive Made in India look. It may be OK (and I hope so for your sake) but a real USA western saddle will be as comfy as an armchair all day. if it is not as good as you hoped, write it off to experience - which is what I had to do.

Thank you :) will give it a go and see what it's like. I'm riding in a wintec western just now and it's like riding on a bit of wood so fingers crossed this one is better lol
