Have been toying with the idea of going out hunting for years, have decided to go for it this season!

I have never hunted before so can you please tell me who I need to speak to, how much it costs, what the dates are for this year etc. also What should I wear/turnout?!!?

Anything else I need to know?? any tips /advice definitely appreciated :)

Thanks

Woody P are our neighbours, you can always try www.fitzwilliamhunt.com for some details of local hunting. If you are dead set on the Woodland Pytchley, you'll need to contact their secretary - not sure of their contact numbers.

Dates will be similar to most packs in this area - starting autumn hunting in early September, with main season starting around the first week of November. The Woodland Pikeys do tend to go on a little bit longer in the sping, usually until end of March/beginning of April.

Secretary will also be able to advise on costs of a day cap and eventually how you;d go about subscribing to them. Varies on age and how many times a year you want to hunt etc.

Assuming you are female and over 18. Dress code for the autumn hunting is ratcatcher (tweed jacket with shirt and tie or coloured stock; long boots; pale breeches and riding hat (with tapes sewn up if wearing velvet cap); ratcatcher is never incorrect if you are only going to hunt occasionally. Main season i.e opening meet and afterwards is a black or navy coat with a hunt shirt & white stock, beige breeches, black boots and riding hat (with tapes sewn up if velvet cap).

If you are under eighteen stick in ratcatcher all year.

Tips - ask secretary if there is a member you can buddy up with for tips and advice during the day.
