Welsh Section A Stallion Blackhill Picalo... Anyone know anything about him? From what I have found out through a google search this evening, he is quite the well renowned stallion, but more info would be great.

Looking at taking my friend to view and possibly buy one of his sons for her 4 year old some to do lead rein on and her 11 year old daughter to show in hand.

Any info appreciated. :-)

He is owned by Colin Tibby of Lacy Stud, the great show producer. He stood for a time at Thistledown Stud. Bred in Herefordshire, in the mountains by lovely family.

He was a great mover, as I'm sure you've seen from photos online

I found a video of him on YouTube and his movement is superb. I see how successful he was showing as a youngster and how well some of his progeny have done, but despite being Welsh myself, I know very little about showing Welshies.

The pony is 6 and looks to be very sound confirmation wise, but none of the pics are really conf pics, so will have to wait til we go see him.

Thank you. Just kind of hoping someone will say either yes, he is a great sire or, no, he is overrated and not that impressive anymore. -)

Just from what it says on a website..

"He won the Royal Welsh Show as a yearling, two year old and three year old and has also claimed Youngstock Champion and Reserve Overall .

He has qualified for the Cuddy inhand championship at Horse of the Year Show on two occasions and one of his sons Pinewell Bucks Fizz has been Champion at the same Cuddy finals on 2 occasions!

Picalo has other wins too numerous to list, but which may be added in detail over the darker winter months but these also include Champion at the WPCS International Show on two occasions."
