Q in title really not going below 16 tonight should keep my mare with a hunter clip out naked as still at 9pm it says it will be 21!! X

Yes, I did a full clip on one of mine on Monday, he had a LW turnout on overnight Mon and Tue but left him without anything last night as it was forecast not to go below 15 (was actually about 14 when I got up) and looks like same again tonight.

Personally I would but I'm quite mean with my rugs! The main issue for clipped horses is rain so as long as you're sure there will be no rain, keep her naked. Much nicer for her too.

Yes. Clipped everything off mine except the legs today, and then bathed him, and now he is out minus a rug (and consequently the bath was probably pointless!) and won't be putting one back on him tonight. Temp not forecast to go below 15 all night, and as I have been up and out and about at 9.30pm and 4am every day this week, I can confirm it has been toasty warm!! I mistakenly put on thermals for my first lot of survey work, and nearly died!

I will be rugging the hunter clipped ones in lightweights because it says it will be 13 at the lowest tonight and it always seems to be a couple of degrees below the forecast here.

Forecast for last night was not to go below 14. When I got up at 5am it was 9 degrees and very damp and misty. I'd ummed and ahhd a bit at 8pm last night whether or not to put a sheet on and this morning I was glad I had, there's not much flesh on my fit pony at the moment. All the horses are naked right now but we will be putting sheets on most of them that are still out later tonight.

mines fully clipped and was out last night naked and will be again tonight :) I woke up about 8 times last night with the wonderful man flu the bf has given me and it was warm all night.:p:)

I was in Crawley bat surveying and it was toasty warm for the time of year. No thermals needed, and I was stood still staring at a tree in the dark....usually the being still part makes me freezing, but I had to take a layer off!!

Our 3 hunters were all clipped yesterday and had very thin rugs on at dusk but they were tacky at 8 this morning so can stay naked tonight. I don't ever remember having this dilemma before. I feel sorry for the other horses on the yard who have started to get fluffy!

clipped last week everything and legs (thank goodness) and out naked, though tbf I kept him clipped for most of this summer anyway so no change to him really! He can wriggle about a bit if he really needs to but I doubt it will be necessary :)

You poor things....

What it must be like to worry about whether your horse will die if you clip it and not put a wanky blanky on it in a blazing indian summer.

C'mon guys... it's hotter than it has been ALL SUMMER!

Get a grip.

Tis indeed true. However, heavy dew means that those horses fully clipped would certainly benefit from a light rug on overnight. And I certainly wouldn't leave mine naked......

You can't say that AM - mine would not benefit in the slightest from having a rug on, because he'd be sweating, dew or no dew. He lived out all last winter in a mediumweight rug, despite being fully clipped.

This is why I don't understand the point of these posts if I am honest. How can a complete stranger on an Internet forum who doesn't know your horse or your yard have any clue as to what is best for them rug-wise?!

Well I left mine all out naked last night as it was so hot when I went to hay them up that I couldn't bring myself to even put the lightweights on. However, it was chilly this morning and I think they may have shivered for the last couple of hours of the night. But they are still alive! Yay!

I can confirm that at 5am it was still 14 degrees. So not very chilly where I was! It was 22 degrees at 9pm last night. Perhaps I should have gone and just rugged between the hours of midnight and 3am?! ;)

You wicked woman!!!!!
