Colin Hamilton - he's been recommended to me to look at Jacks rotated pelvis and possible neck rotation and I'm happy for him to have a look at it but I just wondered if anybody else had experience of either the man himself or the practice? Any ideas how much it's gonna cost me - not that it matters but I don't want to just wade right in there with "well how much are you?" Thanks

Hi there.

I use a McTimoney Chiropractor for both myself and my horse and can't recommend them highly enough. I don't know of Colin Hamilton as I'm in East Anglia, but if he's a member of the MCA I think they're all qualified to a standard. Having spent years with back problems, and trying osteopaths, physiotherapists and "normal" chiropractors, it's most certainly the best method I've ever used. I'm not saying it works for everyone, and I'm not saying that all the other methods are no good, but it's worked wonders for me!
Good luck!

It can, actually - it does so fairly frequently in accidents and as a veterinary surgeon who regularly goes to a mcTimoney chiro to have my own spine/pelvis straightened out (endless driving does it huge damage - it's impossible to balance out the left and right foot action) I find it immensely useful in my riding - I feel the difference, my horse feels the difference, and yes, I would use a McTimoney practitioner on my own horse - and have done in the past.

The actual phrase used was that it's asymmetric and he has pronounced muscular build up differences (i.e one side of him is much more developed than the other) which may benefit from some manipulation. I'm willing to give anything a shot if there's a chance it might help him out. Might be I'm just a sucker but the sports massage lady that recommended this course of action did not even bother giving him his massage the other day as until this issue is looked at it's benefits would be minimal and short lived. I saved her fee so it's going towards the chiropractor.

Who do you use? There is one local that I would not recommend.... PM me for name.... everyone at our yard used to use her, till things started going a little bit wrong! Now no one uses her!

Does she work on humans? Mummy has a bad back but normal chiros don't seem to help much.

Im in kent and swear by Gill Maybury for my horse and she comes from a neighbouring county.

Brilliant lady and also a former badminton rider who is also a quialified instructor.
