Taking their horse to the Burghly sponsored ride next sunday? My daughter and I are going and are quite looking forward to it. I hope it won't blow my mare's mind with all the going's on but you never know until you try it. I did the 15 mile wimpole estate ride back in June and she was a good girl , so here's to another!

Is it a fast and furious blat? or are people fairly curteous??
Only asking as my boy can get overly wound up so dont fancy ending up on the floor with him doing it alone!

I went a few years ago and had a lovely time. they give you a set starting time and send you off in groups. i went on my own and the group I was put in disappeared so ended up hacking round on my own which my mare didn't mind. On the whole people were very courteous and I would defintiely recommend it compared to some of the "fun" rides I've been on.
They usually have a photographer there and they try and get you to stop early on and have your piccie taken with Burghley house in the backdrop. Well worth it if you can get your horse to stand still - probably not many of us will have the chance to show people pics of the time they rode at Burghley

. They ask riders to dress smartly as it's Sj day and there are quite members of public walking the XC course. ( i wore beige breeches, white show shirt and my long boots)
If the ground is ok part of the ride is on the XC course and you can get quite close up to the jumps. It's amazing how big they look from the back of a 16.1 horse!
Would definitely recommend it if you have the time and the weather's good. Was thinking about going again this year myself but have other commitments that weekend

oh cool it sounds awesome!
