Hello all,

Bit of a strange one this, my 14.2 coloured cob gelding has had all of his forelock, mane and tail cut off by somebody!!! They didnt steal the hair, just left it where they cut it off and they have cut his tail off from the dock down, all his forelock has been cut off and most of his mane has been hacked off also!!!

Not sure if anybody else has had this or heard of anybody else doing it, I found it really upsetting, my horse is ok, he was a bit subdued the day after but seems ok again now but just wanted to warn people and see if anybody else had suffered this.

Does anybody know how long it will take for his tail to grow back?

Used to hear of this happening in the showing world, to nobble a horse's chances! No idea how long it will take to grow back, I'm assuming you have reported it to the Police though - someone has gained access without your permission - time to up the security on the yard, big time. I hope this is the last of your troubles, just a one off.

someone at our yard had to cut her horses tali as it was all matted, they cut it to the bottom of the dock, think it took a year to grow back. But for my horse it would take 6 months as she grows hair really quickly.
There are horrible people in the world but just be bloody thankfull that you only got the horrid ones not the despicable, nasty ones.
defo up yard security though :)

ugh how awful, is your horse on private land or a yard?
Eitherway it is scary and I'm sorry to hear it :( I'd be crying&fuming.

I'd be fit for murder and would put a very nicely worded notice on the gate along with fake ctv.

For a full tail, at least a year. Mine's lost a tail too [due to it being chewed] and I'm playing the waiting game also.
