Hi,
I bought a new pony about 3 weeks ago and have hacked him out loads in this time and he was absolutly brilliant, not worried by anything!
I rode him out on friday and he was completly stupid, spooking at everything (cows, sheep, white lines on the road!) and really jumpy!
I rode him out again yesterday for 2 hours with company and although he was better, he still had a few spooks and nearly had a heart attack when a tractor passed us!
I'm just wondering if it was the change in weather or new shoots of grass or something?
Has anyone else been experiencing anything like this at the moment?
Thanks for any comments.

I have had same issue with my boy. Although think his stupidity is being a tb who has been clipped and its very windy so everything is out to eat him! He nearly ran over me today fetching in to ride as a gust of wind blew! Idiots!! Bring on the winter and the stupidity which comes from being stabled!

Yes, mine is the same!! She is normally brilliant and doesn't bat an eyelid at anything but the last couple of times I have ridden she goes everywhere looking for things to spook at. After about 20 mins she settles and gets better but to begin with she is a monster!!

Im glad that its not just me!
I will have to see how we get on over the next week or so.
I'm just hoping that its not that he needs more work as with these dark evenings that will b a bit of a problem!
