Hi All,

The time has finally come to start looking for a new horsebox. I had a 3.5 tonne built in 2006 and loved it to pieces but decided to sell when I bought my new horse in June, as I felt I needed something sturdier as he is quite a big boy. Since then have been saving some cash and catching lifts to shows but I think im ready to start looking. Have thought about it and am considering going up to a 5.5 or 6.5 tonne as we travel to away shows and I would be concerned about getting bedding, feed, haylage etc on, plus all my gear and his tack and rugs and being over weight (he probably weighs 700kg). The benefit also being that I may have a little more weight for a bit of living.

Have got what I would say is a reasonable budget of around 15k and want to get obviously as newer chasis as possible, but i'm being realistic. Although I think it's a buyers market. As I have only ever had a 3.5 tonne and a 7.5 tonne I don't really know what to look out for, has anybody got any advise or recomendation about makes to avoid? Or any wisdom....

Secondly, does anyone wanna find me one? It's pretty rainy outside so I assume nobody is out riding. (I'm stuck at work).

Thanks to anybody that gets his far! xxxx

I had been in the same boat and ended up buying a box built on an iveco daily. It's lovely to drive and feels very well balanced. Mine has the 2.8 engine which is great for economic motorway driving and hills! There are quite a few around and some have really lovely boxes on them. One which caught my eye was a 2 horse yellow and blue I think. It may still be for sale possibly? Had a good size horse area and small living. Can't remember the manufacturer but it was a known name.

Good luck:)
