Anybody had experience of an external abdominal oblique muscle?

As per title really. But just realised title does not say 'tear of'. Sorry!

Has anybody had experience of dealing with this injury? Mare is now 4 weeks on from when she did it and although the she had a bit of a mad moment on Thursday is still really quiet still.

Vet said give her 6-8 weeks so early days yet.

Would be interested to know what kind of things you did bring horse back into work?

No experience but it is a large muscle so a tear will take a long while to heal, I would probably contact my physio and see if she could help as it is her area of expertise, she has various machines, such as a laser, that may be of help with healing and also her advice with a rehab plan.

Vets sometimes forget that other professionals may be better placed to deal with certain injuries and often fail to refer when it may be more helpful than just resting and waiting.

I would recommend asking a physio if you could hire an LED light therapy device such as a Photizo as phototherapy needs to be used every day to be benificial and LED is safer to use and cheaper than laser so can be loaned out.
